Why Pendula

Watchmaking built on clear principles.

Upfront pricing, documented work and honest conversation about what your watch needs — before anything begins.

At a glance

Six things that shape how we work

These aren't marketing promises — they're the practical decisions we've made about how the workshop runs.

Fixed starting prices in Thai Baht

All three services are priced in ฿ and shown before you commit. No hidden additions unless agreed.

Written condition note with every job

You receive a plain record of the watch's condition on arrival and what was carried out — useful now and as a future reference.

Assessment precedes every service

We inspect first and explain what we find. Nothing proceeds without your understanding and agreement on scope.

Character of older pieces respected

We discuss what to preserve as well as what to address. Patina and honest wear are part of a watch's record, and we won't remove them without reason.

Calibre-appropriate tools and lubricants

Different movements need different tools and oils. We use what's appropriate for each calibre rather than a one-size approach.

Drop-in workshop on Beach Road

You can call in, meet the watchmaker and pick up in person. No couriers, no remote drop-boxes, no uncertainty about who handled your piece.

Expertise

Bench experience across calibre types

Watch servicing covers a wide range of movement types — from basic quartz modules to multi-complication mechanical calibres and vintage movements with parts that are no longer catalogued. Handling these well requires hands-on experience, not just theoretical knowledge.

At Pendula, the team has worked across quartz, automatic, hand-wound and vintage movements. Keepsake restorations, in particular, involve sourcing parts through specialist suppliers and making considered decisions about what to replace versus what to leave.

  • Quartz battery, module service and seal replacement
  • Mechanical and automatic movement overhaul
  • Vintage Swiss and Japanese calibre work
  • Timing machine verification after service
  • Considered parts sourcing for discontinued components
  • Condition note on every completed service
  • Before, during and after photographs on restorations
  • Parts list for any components replaced
  • Written record to keep alongside the watch
  • Useful for insurance, resale or future servicing

Documentation

A paper trail that travels with the watch

Most watch services produce nothing on paper. The owner receives their watch back, perhaps with a verbal summary, and the history of what was done disappears.

Pendula produces a written condition note for every completed job. For restoration projects, this extends to photographs at each stage of the work and a full parts record. That documentation is yours to keep — alongside the watch, in a file, or wherever it makes sense.

Service Approach

Conversation before tools

Not everyone who brings in a watch knows what it needs — and that's fine. Part of what we offer is a straightforward assessment that explains the watch's condition in plain terms, without pushing towards an unnecessary service.

If the watch needs nothing, we'll say so. If it needs something specific, we'll explain what, why and what it will cost before any work begins. Scope changes during a job are discussed before they're acted on.

  • Plain language throughout — no jargon required
  • No work proceeds without your agreement
  • We'll tell you if the watch doesn't actually need a service
  • Updates provided on longer jobs
  • Questions welcomed at any stage

What sets us apart

Distinctive features of the Pendula workshop

Restoration photography included

For keepsake restorations, we photograph the watch at arrival, during disassembly and on completion. The set of images travels with the documentation — a record that will matter in twenty years.

Pre-work agreement as standard

We don't start work until the scope and cost are agreed. If something unexpected appears partway through, we pause and discuss it before continuing. The watch is yours, and the decisions are yours to make.

Direct access to the craftsperson

When you bring a watch to Pendula, you speak with the person who will work on it. There is no intermediary counter, no relay of instructions. The questions you ask are heard by the person who matters.

Patina and age handled with respect

An older watch often has surface character worth keeping. We discuss what the owner values before touching the case, and will suggest a lighter approach where heavy polishing would do more harm than good.
